I have also been reworking my pricing. The fees have not changed, but I wanted to make my packages less complicated and more inclusive. I am very excited about these changes and would be happy to email the new price list upon request.

After a very long and busy trip to DC I am finally back home in Maine. Congratulations to Eli Gurwitz whose bar mitzvah was on Labor Day. He did a fantastic job reading Torah and photographing his party was a lot of fun. It seems like just the other day I photographed his sister's bat mitzvah and he was a little kid running around underfoot. While in DC I also had the pleasure of meeting Abigal and Julia, the children of a couple whose wedding I photographed years ago. While Julia was feeling a bit under the weather, the portrait session went well. It's always a joy to catch up with old clients, and I'm excited to see the images. One of the highlights of my trip was photographing family friends at a barn in Clarksburg, MD. We photographed the kids with their horse. It was a rainy day, but the photos look great. I'm definitely going to be putting some on this blog. I had forgotten how marvelous horses are... and what a delight it was to get out of the hustle of DC to the peaceful countryside.

Congratulations go out to Leslie and Pete who got married Sunday at the Inn By the Sea in Cape Elizabeth. It was a gorgeous day for a wedding on the beach. The photos look great -- I'll try to get a couple up on the blog soon.

Tomorrow I get on the road for Washington, DC. I'm pretty much booked solid my entire time there. Right now it's looking like the only time I have open is Tuesday evening. If you are hoping to get some time with me while I'm there you can always try me on my mobile -- you never know if something in my schedule might have changed.

Washington, DC Labor Day Schedule

My trip to DC is approaching, and I have been trying to schedule all of my client meetings over just a couple of days. My calendar is filling up quickly. I've got photo shoots and events and lots of album layouts planned. So much for socializing with old friends... If there's anyone who needs me it's looking like the only time I have open is Saturday, the 2nd, in the late afternoon, and Tuesday, the 5th in the evening. Please let me know as soon as possible so I can reserve the time for you.

Broden

What can I say -- it was an amazing weekend. It all started at what possibly could be the sweetest spot in Maine where I photographed baby Broden. He was a stellar model, and the photographs are so good I don't know how I'll ever be able to edit them down to a manageable number. Of course, I will be posting a couple here for those of you who can't wait for the gallery of everything.
I also spent a wonderful day enjoying the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen Fair. I'm not a big arts and crafts show fan, but this one is a bit more sophisticated than your average kettle corn and macrame pot holder kind. I should have picked up more business cards because by the end of the day I couldn't decide what to buy and almost left empty handed. I finally selected a small etching by Victoria Elbroch. She's also a recent transplant to Maine, and her work is beautiful. There were numerous other amazing artists at the fair. Check out this great pottery. The fair runs all week so check it out if you can.

It was brutally hot and humid today -- and is supposed to be worse tomorrow. Good thing I have been holed up in my stuffy office, hunched over my steaming laptop all day. I've got to share some of the photos I've been working on for days now... I'll post more soon.

Jen and Greg

This past weekend was a flurry of photography. I'm now up to my eyeballs in images. Saturday's wedding at Spruce Point was beautiful despite the downpour. The bride wore a gorgeous Vera Wang, and the groom was a gentleman. Saturday I got to spend some time with Jen and Greg who are getting married in two months. Their easy style and contagious laughter made the engagement shoot more fun than work. I'm going to post some photos from these events here so check back later.

The Way Life Should Be

It is my opinion that a late afternoon is best spent relaxing at the shore. Two Lights Park, in Cape Elizabeth, is gorgeous. There is a certain peace that settles in after just a couple of minutes here. There's the sound of the waves crashing into all those rocks that should be scary but instead is hypnotic. I watched as fishermen stood at edge of the rocks, fearlessly casting their lines into the rolling surf. In fact, I was a bit worried for them and couldn't help but keep watch over them in case one was washed away.

I cautiously handed off my new baby (D200) to my husband so he could capture the moment. God I hate being on that side of the camera! I should mention that my husband really doesn't like using my camera to take my photo -- I suspect it's because he knows I'm wondering what the camera is set at and how he's framing the shot. All in all I think this is pretty true to the moment. Thanks, Honey!

This weekend I'm busy shooting a wedding with a Maine colleague. I've also got an engagement session on Sunday. Then Monday it's headshot at a law firm. When it rains, it pours...

I took this photo with my little Nikon Coolpix point and shoot one afternoon while sailing Penobscot Bay. It was a perfect day to be on the water. The Olad is a beautiful old schooner that sails out of Camden, ME. It's a long way from northern VA...

I am very excited -- just bought a Nikon D200. I feel incredibly lucky to have found one in stock. Should be here by the end of the week. I hardly believe it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the sales person misunderstood me and sends a D100 or F100 instead of the D200. It seems too good to be true. Now if only I could find the the Holy Grail of lenses -- the 18-200 VR lens...

Welcome

As many of you know, after living in the Washington, DC area for over ten years, my husband and I decided to move back to New England. We chose the Portland, ME region after much consideration. This area has so much to offer, and as we enjoy a perfect New England summer we realize we made the right decision.

Leaving behind my successful photograph business was difficult. So many of of my clients have become my friends, and I left DC with fond memories of the good times I have photographed. Whenever I return to DC for work, it's always a joyful reunion with old friends. In fact, I often get emotional when I realize that it's the last time I will be seeing some you. Thanks to you all for sharing your special occassions with me over the years.

I have a job over Labor Day 2006 so if anyone in DC needs me for anything let me know. I am also set to return in April 2007. If you are interested in hiring me for an event in the DC area, give me a call. You never know, I may be able to come on down.

After spending months focused on personal affairs, I am excited to turn my attention once again to photography. There has been a good deal of interest in my services. I am looking forward to photographing wedding this summer at the beautiful Mount Washington Hotel in New Hampshire and the Samoset Resort in Rockport, ME. I am happy to travel throughout New England.

The new website has been well received. If you haven't already, please take a minute to look at it. I made the big leap in to the digital age. I am now shooting digitally. It has revolutionized my work flow and opened the door to many new possibilities. I am happy to announce that I am now using Pictage (www.pictage.com) to host my online event galleries. There you can see the images from your event. You can share the gallery with your friends and family, and you can even order reprints. I am working on a new digitally-designed coffee table style book. Some people don't like the informal nature of these books so I'll still be offering the traditional Leather Craftsman books. There have been so many new doors opened by digital photography, now if only I can get my hands on the new Nikon D200...
