One of my favorite weddings of 2008 was Amanda and Pete's. They were married at The Bufflehead Cove Inn, a hidden gem in Kennebunkport. The guests and I were all blown away by the charm and simple beauty of the place. When the kind inn keeper, Harriet, called about using some of the images on their website I was more than happy to oblige. I hope Bufflehead Cove Inn will be hosting more wedding in the near future. Maybe I'll be the lucky enough to photograph one of them...

Jennifer and Tom
October 4, 2008
The Fairmont Hotel
Washington, DC

After being away from DC for over a year, I was super excited to get back to my old home town. It was a homecoming for me as well as Jenn and Tom. Jenn and Tom recently relocated from the DC area to Tom's home state of Massachusetts. I met Jenn when she was working at one of the photo labs I used back in the film days. It wasn't long before she started assisting me on jobs. Always patient and on her toes, she was an asset to my business. Eventually Jenn took over for me when I left my position with another photographer. Fast forward to her engagement to her long time love, Tom, and a plea to fly down to DC to photograph their wedding.

Leaving the baby for a weekend was harder than I thought it would be, but I was looking forward to luxuriating at the fabulous Fairmont Hotel in DC's West End. Lucky for me they had recently renovated their guest rooms so it was even nicer than I remembered. It really doesn't get much better than October in DC. It's neither too warm or too cool, the sky is bright and clear, and the flowers are still blooming.

Photographing a friend's wedding is always a mixed bag of nerves, excitement, and unbelievable pressure. Lucky for me, Jenn and Tom are a super laid back couple. I loved every minute of this day and feel grateful that Jenn trusted me to photograph it. Thanks for having me! Congratulations to Jenn and Tom. I wish them all the best in the years to come.

The online gallery will be available on Pictage very soon.

The courtyard at the Fairmont is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city.

Love that there was an endless supply of Starbucks as well as champagne.

The bridesmaids got caught up on all the latest celebrity gossip as
they waited for the bride to finish getting her hair and make up.

Suck it in, Jenn!

Jenn's dad sees her for the first time.

Stunning.

I've known Jenn for a while now and never noticed her very cool eye color.

The handsome groom.

I love this shot of Jenn in the elevator on the way downstairs.

Tom and his mother share a moment before the ceremony.

Married!

Bridal Recommendations

Some clients recently provided Pictage with reviews of working with me. I know you all aren't checking out my listing on Pictage so I thought I'd post them here. Thanks to everyone who took the time to write something. I appreciate it more than you know!

"Amy was absolutely fabulous! She was professional, efficient, so incredibly hard working, and had such a wonderful personality! Everyone at the wedding couldn't stop talking about how great she was. Great sense of humor - she had an ability to make everyone feel so comfortable. As for the photos: just AMAZING! I couldn't have imagined more beautiful lighting - and she captured every moment just as it was. When I look through the photos I am able to relive every second of the wedding (even the stuff I missed!) I highly, HIGHLY recommend Amy! She is worth every penny and more!" - Amanda and Pete

"Amy was simply amazing and so easy to work with throughout our whole wedding planning process! And on our wedding day, she was no less amazing. Amy has the unique ability to make everyone involved feel completely comfortable, while also taking the reigns when needed in order to get those important shots. Many of our wedding guests have told us that they were so impressed by her ability to be everywhere but unobtrusive at the same time. My husband and I felt completely relaxed on our wedding day, knowing we were in the hands of such a talented photographer who would be sure to capture every special moment." - Loni and Jess

"Amy was fantastic - I really liked her from the second I met her - very professional yet friendly. Our wedding day turned out differently than planned because of drizzly/rainy/miserable weather, but Amy's presence helped me stay calm. Most importantly, our pictures came out absolutely beautiful (including the ones outside in the rain)!" - Nicole and Andrew

Asticou Inn Wedding

Lisa and Eric
September 13, 2008
The Asticou Inn
Northeast Harbor, Maine

Lisa and Eric live in California, and the first time I met them face to face was a week before their wedding. We got along famously, and the conversation made its way from the wedding day plans to how they met. They smiled at each other and then said, already knowing what my reaction was going to be, "the Tampax factory." It's going to be hard to top that story! Later that week we all made our way up the coast to Bar Harbor. I had never been and was excited to see what everyone has been raving about since I moved here. Bar Harbor did not disappoint, even if the weather conspired to spoil the entire weekend. Thankfully the day of the wedding the rain let up and we were able to enjoy the grounds and views at the beautiful Asticou Inn. I had a really wonderful time photographing the two of them and their friends and family. Congratulations, Lisa and Eric!

Lisa and Eric's gallery is online at Pictage.

Happy Anniversary

Karla and Mike had a beautiful wedding last year at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport. These two were a dream to photograph, and they had an insanely fun reception with the Bob Charest Band keeping everyone on the dance floor all night. They live in NYC so I have no doubt they will find a special way to celebrate their first anniversary.
