A Countryside Wedding

Loni and Jess
July 12, 2008
New Gloucester, ME

Referrals from former clients always lead to the best new clients. That certainly has been the case with Loni and Jess. After an amazing engagement session last summer I knew these two -- especially Loni -- would photograph beautifully. The wedding was at gorgeous Pineland Farms. I need to find out from Loni the name of the officiant for all you soon to be brides because this woman was great! I had a really hard time picking just a couple of images to post here. I'll definitely be sharing the slideshow so you can see more of my favorites. Congratulations to Loni and Jess! Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day -- I had so much fun.

The Monday following the wedding I received this amazing comment from Holly's mom:
"We just wanted to send a quick hello and huge THANK YOU for being part of Loni & Jess's wedding on Saturday the 12th. It was everything we dreamed of and more. We are so excited to see the photos. You were amazing Amy. So discreet and non-intrusive, but always making sure to capture the perfect shots that will highlight this beautiful day forever. We'll be watching your blog for some "sneak previews". Thank you again for making this such a special day for our daughter and her new husband."

If you haven't already, please make sure you register for the online gallery. It will be available really soon.

Loni and Jess were married in the garden's sweet orchard.

This smile rarely left Loni's face all night!

Happy Anniversary

Jim and Kristina were married a year ago today. Time flies because it seems like just yesterday I was photographing their wedding.

Allison and Dan

Allison and Dan's wedding was a whirlwind. Hired for only 4 hours, I was photographing every minute I was there. Alli and Dan are from Boothbay Harbor, and their wedding had a real local feel to it. The marriage ceremony was in Barrett's Park, the prettiest setting that I'm sure would be over run by tourists if they only knew about it. Their transportation were two of the sweetest rides I'd ever seen. The guests made their way over to Fisherman's Wharf for an early dinner. Friends who were not invited sailed past the restaurant for an impromptu congratulations to the bride and groom. And that's when my time with them ended. I wonder how crazy the evening's party cruise got...

Please register to see their wedding gallery.

Honk If You Love Animals

The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland is taking part in an exciting initiative to bring a new specialty license plate to Maine. The fee for the plate goes to the state Animal Welfare Program. The plate costs $25 annually, and they need to pre-sell 2000 before they can present the bill to the legislature. More information here.

If you haven't been to the ARL's website in a while, check out some of the new **lower** adoption fees for cats and dogs. They are also sponsoring some fun events like Bark in the Park August 3rd at Hadlock Field.

Nicole and Andrew

Nicole and Andrew had a beautiful wedding -- in spite of the relenting misting rain. We were all holding out hope that the weather would lift and they could have their outdoor ceremony as planned. But Nicole's father made the difficult call to move it indoors, and I won't lie and say I wasn't happy to get out of the cold and wet weather. Still, I am so thrilled that we got to take some photos out at the Spring Point Lighthouse. The ceremony and party that followed was so personal and intimate that I don't think anyone minded that it wasn't outdoors.

It doesn't look that bad out, right?
That's why we all thought it might still be an option to do the ceremony outside.

Then you see this photo below and get a sense of the elements we were working with out there.

Wedding dress: from Andrea's Bridal by Mikaella Bridal
Hair and makeup: Headgames
Ceremony and reception: The Salt Water Grille
Cake: Coldstone Creamery
Flowers: They look professional, right? Nicole purchased roses from an online florist for the bridal party bouquets and table centerpieces and made the bouquets herself. Yeah, I can't believe it either!

Quick Hello

Wedding season is fully upon me, and I've been working non-stop to get galleries up and albums designed. Nicole and Andrew have been waiting patiently to see something, so here's a portrait we took (in the rain) at the Spring Point Lighthouse. I'll be posting more photos and info about Nicole and Andrew's wedding shortly.

Kate & Tim's Anniversary Slideshow

My friends, Kate and Tim, just celebrated their first wedding anniversary. I promised Kate a slideshow of my favorites. It's a week late, but here it is.

2009 Weddings

Be the first couple to sign a contract with me this month (July) for a 2009 wedding and receive a copy of this awesome new book about wedding planning. Description from amazon.com:

"Announcing the wedding bible: the most complete, lively, handholding, step-by-step guide to help every couple have a perfect wedding—no matter their budget, taste, or personalities. More than 2.2 million North American couples tie the knot each year; until now, only a mere fraction could work with celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss. But the significant fact is not Ms. Weiss's clientele, but the reason for it: She's so very good at what she does. And now she shares all of her hard-won experience, wisdom, inspiration, and style tips.

The Wedding Book covers everything, in a voice filled with understanding: announcing the engagement, and what to do when someone isn't happy about the news; creating a budget; the pros and cons of destination weddings. Drawing up the guest list; planning the ceremony (and how to personalize your vows); menus to inspire; contracts and wedding insurance. Shopping for the dress, six great hairstyles, tuxedo vs. dinner jacket, the etiquette of invitations. Style tips for flowers, the tabletop, linens; a cake that says "you"; the crucial "Sixty Days Until I Do"; rehearsal dinner strategies; plus freezing the cake and preserving the bouquet."

This will be my last 2009 specific give away!

Caroline & Josh

Caroline and Josh are getting married in September and wanted to have their engagement session during their recent trip to Maine. We set it up for late in the day -- 6:30 PM -- and crossed our fingers the weather would cooperate. We headed over to one of my favorite local spots, Kettle Cove, and started shooting. From the first frame I knew it was going to be an amazing session. Caroline and Josh are naturals in front of the camera. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding!
